Comment Give Us Something

What has the comments others have posted on my blog taught me about my own writing?

Most of the comments that people gave me were about the contents. Some agreed with my writing and some of them gave me constructive feedback, which both were very helpful to me. Also, some people corrected my grammatical mistakes that I had made. Others gave me some helpful tips, including what pictures I could insert and how I could change around my writing techniques to make my paragraphs smoother.

What have the comments I have posted on other blogs taught me about writing?

Writing comments make me look back on the writing that I have done and what people commented on my writing. Commenting, in some ways, taught me how to improve my own writing because I learned things that I wasn't able to think of while reading other people's' writing. By reading other people's work, I learned how to write the parts that I had a hard time on.

Three Prominent Research Successes in BCI

Three groups of researchers have contributed to the field of Brain computer Interface: Kennedy & Yang Dan, Nicolelis, and Donoghue & Schwartz. Brain-computer Interface (BCI) is a branch under neuropsychology[1] that utilizes cortical[2] plasticity[3] to research ways in assisting, supplementing, and even repairing human functions by connecting the brain to external devices. Kennedy and Yang Dan of UC Berkeley built the first BCI utilizing electrodes connected to the cat’s thalamus[4] and succeeded in reproducing images in the cats’ point of view in 1999. This has widened the entrance for understanding the disabled patients’ view of the world and finding a solution to helping blind patients. Nicolelis, a professor at Duke University, on the other hand, succeeded in making robotic arms that reproduced imitations of monkeys’ actions in 2000. This allows doctors to prescribe robotic arms to amputated patients and improve their life quality.

Lastly, Donoghue at Brown University and Schwartz at University of Pittsburgh decoded neuron signals and extrapolated information from a far fewer pool of neurons than researchers did before (200 neurons to 30) with a three-dimensional tracking system. With these three leading research groups that lead the field of BCI, modern neuropsychology has become more beneficial by providing alternate sources to the society.

[1] science concerned with the integration of psychological observations on behavior and the mind with neurological observations on the brain and nervous system
[2] involving or resulting from the action or condition of the cerebral cortex
[3] the quality of being able to be made into different shapes
[4] the largest subdivision of the diencephalon that consists chiefly of an ovoid mass of nuclei in each lateral wall of the third ventricle and serves chiefly to relay impulses and especially sensory impulses to and from the cerebral cortex
